The world has always slandered Christians who stand by Biblical moral standards (about anything). Christians have been called insane, stupid, uneducated, rubes, reactionaries, enemies of the public good, unpatriotic, and so on. Cain murdered Abel because Abel was righteous. The Sodomites hated Lot, even though Lot was no shining example of consistency, because they knew he belonged to the people of the Lord. Herod cut off John's head because John criticized Herod's marrying his own sister-in-law. The Caesars persecuted Christians because they wouldn't name him "Lord", so he frantically accused them of being subversives. But the Lord doesn't tell us just to take it. He urges us to pray for His protection and deliverance. God includes the "call-down-justice psalms" in the Bible for a reason. We are forbidden to take our own vengeance (Romans 12:19), but we can ask God to avenge. Christ promised to intervene for His people, in Luke 18:8, on the condition of faith. God's promise to Abraham applies to us: those who bless us will be blessed, and those who curse us will be cursed. When you see how messed-up the U.S. has become, don't just lament, complain, and wring your hands! Call on God to clean up this nation! |
