The Bible never teaches passivity. The Bible never says "Let go and let God." The Bible never says, "Just let Jesus flow through you." It never says you should just hang there like a branch on a vine (that is not the right application of Jesus' parable.) The true counterpoint to self-reliance is Christ-reliance, not passivity, "resting", letting Jesus 'flow through me", or all the other nonsense that poses as true spirituality. I do good works because I trust Jesus Christ. Refusal to make effort to obey is sin; God will not accept mysticism as a valid excuse for my laziness.
